Community Service

Dr. Bowlus has been a member and past President of the Wood County Board of Health from 1999 to 2012.

He also served and a member and past President of the Wood County Chapter of the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI). For several years he taught a 12-week session of the NAMI’s Family-to-Family class, which educates the families, friends and other loved ones of people who suffer with mental illness.

Dr. Bowlus also participates in medical missions. His most recent trip was to Nuevo Progresso, Mexico, with a medical/construction team organized by the United Methodist Church. He also has served in Dominican Republic and New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

He also makes and serves breakfast at the Priceless Pancakes at the Pemberville Presbyterian Church once a month.
